Feature Proposal:

http://trunk.foswiki.org/Support/HowToUseGit#Trick_for_sharing_more_of_the_configuration descibes a technique for reducing the number of path configuration variables to three - the default host, a file path, and a url path.

We should make this configuration the default.

I'm not proposing eliminating the other configuration paths, just providing them with some more sensible defaults that can be shared.

configure has to be persuaded not to go tits-up over the paths configured this way.

this certainly seems to be working out - I did an install of just core in March2012, and only had very few issues: see ***Item***

so having configure just work will be good too.
