Item2021: Email and table format of actionnotify

Description

The table format in actionnotify emails is quite confusing, as there are no horizontal delimiters and the fields are centered vertically. It would be great if the table could look more like the online version of the ActionTracker tables.

Additionally, the look of the whole email is much less pleasant to the eye than the MailerContrib notification emails. It would be great to have the same look and feel for ActionTracker's emails.

Maybe it could as well be possible to have some kind Foswiki topic which serves as a template for the emails. This way, customization of the email and table format (special headings, tips, headers, corporate identity,...) would be easiest. (Compare also Item813...)

The more I think about it, the more I like this idea. You could e.g. have two separate tables, one for your private actions and one for actions assigned to one of the groups you are a member of.

Any quick tips to enhance the table format of the emails?

Browsing through the code, I noticed that ActionTrackerPlugin uses the actionnotify template for its emails. So it is possible to customise the mail to some degree. In particular, you could pull in additional stylesheets to change the table formatting and you could also tailor the email for your corporate identity.

I know about this possibility, but I´m quite sure that any modification in this template will be overwritten with the next upgrade of ActionTrackerPlugin.

Additionally, I think it should be more convenient, i.e. the formatting should be possible by editing template topics rather than editing a file manually on the server´s file system.

Modification, yes, but that's not how you do it. Create an actionnotify template for your own local skin, and use that instead.

This is a NOP, but someone pointed out to me that the plain text doesn't contain a link to the action so I'm using this report to check that in.
