Specifically:
* *Entities*
* Set AMP = &
* Set NDASH = –
* Set MDASH = —
* Set LSQUO = ‘
* Set RSQUO = ’
* Set DQUO = “
* Set RDUO = ”
This will make it easier for people who care about typography to do:
“This is a quotation from so and so”
“This is a quotation from so and so“
where do you have to use
&
instead of
&
?
however, wouldn't it be nicer if you could just type:
``This is a quotation...'' -- Author
?
TWiki:Plugins.TypographyPlugin tries to do these sorts of character and string remappings, but fails in at least two ways:
- the code just seems bugs
- its fight with the core about what
---
means (personally, i wish it could mean an emdash and i use 4 =-='s for hlines, but...)
also, for producing beautiful typesetting, this sure seems like an ugly mechanism. (yes, i realise you're only working with what twiki provides). perhaps this bug report should just be "fix
TypographyPlugin"?
WN
Indeed, that would do it. Besides the
---
problem, my regex experience is nowhere near good enough to fix this one.

No idea what to do with this.... Setting to Proposal Required.
