I understand the problem, but I don't see this. Puzzling.

What extensions are installed? Is it just the standard set?

I fixed the problem, though I'm still interested to establish which extension was causing it.

It happenned to mee too on a vanilal 1.0.4beta3 (on fastcgi). Installed plugins were the default, i.e:

• TWikiCompatibilityPlugin (Foswiki-1.0, $Rev: 2621 (2009-02-23) $): add TWiki personality to Foswiki
