This is the first release candidate for patch release 1.0.10

Foswiki 1.0.10-RC1 was built 27 Aug 2010. It is a patch release with more than 420 bug fixes relative to 1.0.0 and several enhancements.

The final release of 1.0.10 is expected 1st week of September 2010.

The upgrade packages exclude the files that are typically changed when you customize your installation. The upgrade package can be copied on top of an existing running 1.0.X installation for a quick upgrade to 1.0.10-rc1. See Installation section for details.

Upgrading to 1.0.10-rc1 from a 1.0.X release using the upgrade package is known to have issues. Copying a 1.0.10-rc1 upgrade package on top of a 1.0 will leave a lot obsolete files behind which could cause trouble. Using a LocalSite.cfg file from a 1.0 system will appear to work, but will cause significant issues with QuerySearch. Migration from Foswiki 1.0 to any release of 1.0 should be done using a reinstall.

Important Changes since Foswiki 1.0.9

This release is expected to be the final bug fixing release for foswiki 1.0, and wraps up about 70 fixes found since 1.0.9.

Importantly, this release fixes an issue running configure on Perl 5.12, improves compatibility with proxy and enterprise search indexers, and updates the shipped plugins to the latest versions.

It resolves a numer of issues for running foswiki on MS Windows.

Download Foswiki 1.0.10 release candidate and help testing the release

Release candidates are distributed as full release packages. Upgrade packages as well as the special debian/Mac/VM/Windows versions will be available when the final version is released.

People that volunteer to test a release candidate do not need to reinstall final version later. They can use the same upgrade packages that can be used to upgrade any previous 1.0.X version of Foswiki.

If you are on 1.0.9 you can manually remove the files you do not want overwritten in your installation and later upgrade to final 1.0.10 using the upgrade package.

So go ahead and install the release candidate.
