Item986: Authen::SASL required by Net::SMTP for authentication

Foswiki has settings related to SMTP authentication, that are passed to Net::SMTP. This module depends on Authen::SASL to authenticate with the SMTP server, but there is no warning if it's not available (there is no attempt to authenticate and {SMTP}{Debug} doesn't help).

So it would be nice to add Authen::SASL to the configure check list and a warning about it in {SMTP}{Username} ssetting...
