replace with simple data url images, or using the same encoded in the perl code.. - http://www.websiteoptimization.com/speed/tweak/inline-images/

Where would the images be stored for users of IE 6 and 7?

-- ArthurClemens - 14 Nov 2008 - 18:37

why not use external URL's to pull the images from the nextwiki server? that would also get us some measure of the number of wikis being installed...

-- WillNorris - 14 Nov 2008 - 20:29

  1. external url's - because it would make corporates a bit edgy wrt foning home (what else fones home?
  2. ie6&7 - the configure script can easily send the file as it does today, but rather than the sent image actually being stored in as a file, its stored in perl code.

I don't understand the reason for this. The image files used currently are not visible as files, they are served only via the script. What is the difference between storing the image data in a file on disc (as now) and storing it in a file on disc (the code file for configure)?

No feedback for 1.5 month probably means no interest to persue this.

Setting to no action (cleaning up in the backlog)
