Autocomplete in the "Insert Link" dialog does not work as it should.

In Firefox (version 10) Autocomplete fails completely. If you type something inside the Web- or Topic-Field, nothing happens. In Chrome (version 17.x or so) and in IE8 it seems to work correctly, BUT only with JQuery 1.7.1.

With a JQuery-Version below 1.7.1 (1.4.4) it "kinda" works in Chrome... but the retrieved Results are "random" and without any recognisable logic.

We can't update to a higher JQuery-Version (1.4.4) by now as other Foswiki-Plugins (eg. Solr Plugin) loose some functionality when we do it.

Use of jquery-1.7.1 is strongly recommended.

All other jquery versions below 1.7.1 are going away very soon. They are incompatible with jquery-ui, which contains the autocomplete library. So don't expect any ui::autocomplete to work using a jquery < 1.7.1.

Can't say what mozilla did to their browser this time frown

Do we know which Foswiki-Plugins are affected by the JQuery Upgrade? We already found some smaller glitches (eg. paging of SolrPlugin)

It's going to be a tough work to identify and fix them all...

-- OliverSchaub - 03 Feb 2012

All plugins have been checked against the latest JQueryPlugin.

Please use SolrPlugin from svn/trunk. I am not aware of any paging glitch in SolrPlugin.

The Result-Page of SolrPlugin throws this Javascript Error: Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: [name^=foswiki.SolrPlugin.mapping]

I will open a Task for SolrPlugin with the Solution to the Problem...

See: http://foswiki.org/Tasks/Item11505

-- OliverSchaub - 06 Feb 2012

Any action left on this task item then?

-- MichaelDaum - 06 Feb 2012

No. I've Set it to "no action required"...
