JQueryPlugin is really unfriendly to the JQueryPluginPlugin developer. Specifically, if you have a syntax error in your plugin stub (perl), then it just ignores your plugin. If I define a plugin, ask for it to be loaded, and it fails, the very least it can do is crash the server with a 1000 page hex stack dump for me to play with.

What if I prefer a bad plugin doesnt crash the server?

At the very least you can test DEBUG and if it's set,, telll me WTF happened. That's what it's for.

The apache log does in fact contain a dump of the error, which is sufficient I guess (though still pretty unfriendly)
