Why don't my scripts in bin get executed?

Usually this happens because:
  1. File permissions are not set correctly; see SettingFileAccessRightsLinuxUnix
  2. Foswiki is not configured correctly for Apache; see ApacheConfigGenerator
  3. Some systems (mainly on Windows) require bin files to have the extension .pl. You can change this manually and set this in configure
